Phunware’s all new Convention Center Wayfinding Solution takes conference attendees from the front door of the convention center to the exact conference booth they are looking for with real-time, 1 meter accurate, blue dot navigation. Our patented algorithm enables precise indoor wayfinding previously thought to be technically impossible in a convention space. Building and event organizers have complete control to quickly update floor plans, booth configurations, and points of interest remotely.
The routing technology uses a mix of GPS, Bluetooth, and Dead Reckoning technology to display the user’s current location in the form of a blue dot with 1m accuracy. Dead Reckoning involves device sensors such as accelerometer, gyroscope, and compass as well as heuristics to predict which route segment the user will take next. All calculations happen on-device. Therefore a network connection is not needed for routing to function.
Unlike traditional indoor wayfinding solutions, Phunware’s Convention Center Wayfinding Solution doesn’t require an onsite team to rescan the updated layout of a space each time it is reconfigured.
Instead, the solution leverages an innovative approach of creating a 5’x5’ grid of potential routes in the entire convention space. The scan therefore only happens once and captures the Bluetooth beacon signals from every possible route segment.
When it’s time for a new convention, a map is loaded into the Phunware web portal with booths displayed. The 5’x5’ grid of route segments is displayed over that and individual route segments are then enabled to create navigable routes along the convention floor. Points of Interest are placed for each booth, allowing mobile app users to search and route to any of these POIs.
